The Effects of “Reflective Thinking Journal Writing” after Disability Understanding Activities on Non-Disabled Young Children’s Activity Preferences and Satisfaction.

ABSTRACT

The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of reflective thinking journal writing after disability understanding activities on the activity preferences and happiness of young, non-disabled children. The subjects were 40 five year old children from two classes at a kindergarten in G Metropolitan City. Using the free choice activity hours among the daily programs of the kindergarten, we executed disability understanding education and then had reflective thinking journal writing activities for the experimental group through 12 sessions for 6 weeks and 40 minutes per session, and executed only disability understanding education for the control group during the same period.The research tools used in this study were scales measuring children’s activity preferences and happiness. Data analysis involved the use of ANCOVA with pretest scores as the covariate. According to the results, reflective thinking journal writing after disability understanding activities made a statistically significant difference in non-disabled young children’s activity preferences. Second, reflective thinking journal writing after disability understanding activities made a statistically significant difference in non-disabled young children’s happiness
