The Idea of University Education and Civil Educational Challenges in the Era of Globalization

ABSTRACT

The starting point of this article, University of Korea College of Education stopped abandon the university its role that foster healthy citizens and improve the emissions that companies with capital needs humanoid job educating becoming reality, and to cultivate civicis an important goal of education should be to emphasize the need for an inevitable. This article is to critically look at the reality of a college education facing a crisis of identity, and is to examine the origins of university education and the evolution of the University in order to try to find a guide into tomorrow by taking lessons from the past. In other words, this paper attempts to examine the mission of the University through the tense since the medieval university to the present university does not give up it between a pure academism and tools pragmatism critically. In particular, the modern university is required to participate in the rule that are filed with the advent of globalization, a form of 'global governance' and international political theory, a doctrine that 'constructivism' paradigm. In addition, we will focus on 'global citizenship', depending on how the progress of globalization has emerged as a new identity, and to present 'civic education' in the direction of a college education to meet these flow proposed. Subsequently, we will review the best practices of civic education of Harvard University and Humanitas College of Kyunghee University. In particular, we will examine the feasibility and significance of it.
