ABSTRACT

This article is to review on the reports by Japanese correspondents activated during the Sino-Japanese War in 1894. Even through Nishimura Dokiske's reports about the war has limited, there are some significants such as the process of the Japanese Forces' participation, the disposition of Japanese Forces in Seoul, the activities of Japanese Forces in Joseon during the war; the analysis comparing the Japanese and Sino Forces which were involved in the war, the statements in detail by the prison of war Ga Yong-deok from Sino Forces and executions of Joseon mobilized for mopping operations against Donghak Peasants Forces. In addition, there are specific articles in the reports such as activities of major politicians like the Lord Heungseondaewongun and Park Yeong-hyo, a field investigation about assassination against Kim Hak-wu and an introduction of data related Wu Beom-seon. Also there are comparison about politicians such as characteristics of friendly Japanese and anti- Japanese, and a focus on Gungukkimucheo which is one of decision making committees for organization in proceeding the Gab-o Revolution in Joseon in the reports. Finally, I obtained results through the review on the reports which is shorts which is short but condensed articles written by Nishimura Dokiske, such as the dimensional and comprehensive situation which were the aspects political and social in the rate Joseon Dynasty around 1894.
