ABSTRACT
The objective ofthis study is to propose a desirable direction forthe developmentprocessofmilitary servicesystem ofRepublicofKorea after analyzingthemilitaryservicesystemsofpreviousadministrations.
Tomeetthisend,weanalyzeandevaluatethemilitaryservicesystem in thethreestagesuptodatesincetheestablishmentofthegovernmentand proposeadesirabledirectionforthedevelopmentprocessofthesystem.
The following is the research result. First, we have to create an environmentin which prospectiveservicemen willbeproudofthemselves whileand afterserving in themilitary.Thiscan beimplemented by new laws and policies.Second,we have to seek a gradualtransition in the militaryservicesystem with a principlethatwemaintain theconscription system supplementedbyan expandedvoluntarysystem.Third,in orderto prevent an illegal draft dodge, we have to enhance our system that maintainsand managesthelistofthosepotentialindividuals.Fourth,we havetodevelop systemsand opportunitiesthathelp soldiersdevelop their capabilities while serving in the army. Fifth, we have to enhance the systemsofreserveforcesandmobilization,makingeffortstosecurebudget anddevelopthelawstoenhancethereadinessofthosereserveforces.
Inconclusion,on topofourproposedresearch weexpectthatcontinued efforts should be made to strengthen our security posture and further developourmilitaryservicesystem.
