The background of Role and Retainment of Dogam(都監制) systemsthat were examined through the operation of Dogam(都監) at the late period of King Seonjo after the Imjinwaeran

ABSTRACT

This paper is to explain as a part of the elucidation of the politicalinstitution(官制) of the Joseon Dynasty, and to overcome the limitationsto the research of history that has been concentrated on the permanentoffices(常設官署) as well as important temporary offices(臨時官署). Whilethere had not been many achievements on Dogam system(都監制) of theJoseon Dynasty, the study is to look at the Dogam(都監) establishmentand operation of a turbulent period of Dogam(都監) when it had beenmost active. And also it is to know why it was necessary temporary suchoffices, such as the Dogam(都監) in Joseon by considering a position thatDogam(都監) occupied the Joseon society. This is, ultimately determinesthat help to reconsider the historical significance of the Dogam system(都監制). In Chapter Ⅱ, it was just examined the background and role of theinstallation of Dogam(都監) of the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592to focus on this point. Despite there are various adverse effects, theDogam system(都監制) was examined why it was able to survive. The Dogam(都監) of the Joseon Dynasty was able to survive and basically can bemaintained by the need of the contemporary. The main background ofthe establishment of Dogam(都監) at that time period reflected on wartimes situation called the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592.
