ABSTRACT

Traditionally, military strategists in Western society put focus on physical forces, whereas the strategists in Eastern world put focus mostly on the intent of the enemy commander. When the Chinese forces entered in the Korean War, in 1950, the battle field was characterized by the competition between the two strategic cultures, strategies based on forces and on intent. The experiences from the strategies and operational arts based on the two different cultures provide us with the most valuable sources for the preparation of the national defense.
