ABSTRACT

This research paper summarizes the changes and essential meaning of The Gangmu in the early Joseon Dynasty. I considered the question of how to utilize the historical and cultural content of Cheorwon, which was confirmed as an official training site. First, Gangmu was an important national ritual that included military training centered around hunting. However, there were many private factors from Tejo to Tejong. It become a form of solving the king's own personal desires through hunting. On the contrary, during the reign of King Sejong, it became stable in the form of hunting in a proper rite. The most prominent regional feature in the process of ritualizing Gangmu was the confirmation of the military training site in Cheorwon during the reign of King Sejong. Several plans for advancing Gangmu contents to the core cultural contents of Cheorwon are summarized in three stages.
