ABSTRACT

It was from King Yeongjo to King Sunjo that genre paintings were prevailed. HYEWON(1758?∼1803 after this) was once HWAWON, but from twenties, he had been wandered as a outsider and got into townsmen in Seoul, so he painted well theirs enjoying, amusement, and daily occurrences in bar-whorehouse. ≪Hyewonjeonshincheop≫was the commercial paintings which expressed the taste and desire of the powerful noble family of Seoul changed to modern consumer society and the luxurious trends like noble of the new-rich class. In the late Joseon period, the view of painting was raised ‘new trend’. It also coincided with painting theorists’ ‘HYEONGSINGWEOMBIRON(theory of combining object with soul)’, namely, natural law could be perfected by painting with mastering the object. The want and senses image of ≪HWJC≫ is reproduced recomposed intentionally images by HYEWON in visual message. He creates the image not only in a simple looking but also in his internalized-senses work as ‘sensed’ man. His inner conscious is not halt in the representation of visual sense experience, but revives is his own image, that is, vivid tension of characters, through the setting of various time and space. Therefore, the image of Sin, Yoonbok is the credible medium for representation of desirer as well as the reduced everyday world. We can be caught naturally uncovered way of cognition through sensual hints -sound, smell, touch, and so on-which are prepared to visual image.
