AB - Since the problems of the aged became a social issue recently, this study recognized elder abuse as a serious phenomenon among the problems of the aged in a dimension of against humanity and intended to conduct research by classifying elder abuse into certain types. This study used the literature research method and executed theoretical research on the basis of the types of elder abuse defined by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, economic abuse, neglect, self-neglect, abandonment were addressed as the types of elder abuse. Consequently, this study classified elder abuse as seven types which had close relationships with each other and formed the academic bassis for preparing effective prevention and coping method of elder abuse.
