ABSTRACT

This study aims to help middle-aged women from multicultural families understand the phenomena related to coming-of-age ceremony and sexual behavior through in-depth interviews and to choose a healthy life. First, multicultural middle-aged women recognized premarital purity, infidelity, lack of family intimacy, patriarchal privileges caused by generational differences between couples, and the formation of class relationships between couples. The conclusions drawn by applying Giorgi's phenomenological research method are as follows. First, in relation to coming-of-age ceremony, multicultural middle-aged women recognized premarital purity, infidelity, LGBTQ, and marital intimacy as both moral and normative feelings of acceptance and exclusion. Second, regarding sexual behavior, the experience of infidelity is perceived as sexual violence (verbal, emotional, and physical violence), and the frequent infidelity of the husband was perceived as a lack of basic courtesy and guilt to be observed while living by not keeping respect and courtesy between the couple, and also mentioned emotional violence, verbal violence, and neglect. This study is a qualitative study on coming-of-age and sexual behavior of multicultural middle-aged women, and subsequent studies suggest that quantitative studies that expand the scope of multicultural middle-aged women are needed.
