This study aims to analyze the impact of AI technology on the field of psychological counseling and explore the future direction of AI-based psychological counseling. The research employs literature review and case studies to examine the technological advancements of AI and its applicability to psychological counseling from multiple perspectives. Through literature analysis, the study comprehensively reviews how AI enhances the accessibility and efficiency of psychological counseling while also addressing ethical concerns, data bias, and privacy issues. Additionally, case studies are conducted to analyze real-world applications of conversational AI in psychological counseling and to assess the reliability and acceptance of AI systems. The findings indicate that AI has significant potential to improve the accessibility and efficiency of counseling services. However, clear limitations, such as ethical concerns and privacy protection, remain. For AI-based counseling to be effectively utilized, systematic responses to not only technological advancements but also ethical and social issues are essential. In conclusion, AI-based psychological counseling has the potential to enhance the quality of counseling services.
