ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between life stress, depression, and psychological well-being in middle-aged men and to identify the mediating effect of depression to provide basic data for the promotion of psychological well-being. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 28 and Process Macro 4.3. First, it was found that life stress had a significant positive effect on depression in middle-aged men. This means that life stress is a major factor that increases depression. Second, life stress had a direct negative effect on psychological well-being, and depression was also identified as a major factor negatively affecting psychological well-being. Third, depression was found to have a mediating effect on the relationship between life stress and psychological well-being. This study suggests measures for life stress management and depression reduction to promote psychological health and improve quality of life in middle-aged men.
