ABSTRACT

In a situation where internal competition culture is prevalent, excessive work stress needs an outlet to relieve it. This study classified work stress into challenge-related work stress and hindrance-related work stress, analyzed the effect on compensatory consumption tourism, and used self-esteem as a parameter. Data were collected through a survey, and data were analyzed through sample characteristics statistics, reliability analysis, Pearson correlation analysis, and regression analysis using SPSS 26.0. As a result of the study, it was found that work stress had a positive effect on compensatory consumption tourism, and self-esteem played a partial mediating role. Challenge-related work stress also had a positive effect on consumption tourism, and self-esteem acted as a partial parameter. However, the hypothesis about the effect of hindrance-related work stress was not supported in this study. This study analyzed the relationship between work stress and consumption tourism and provided the tourism industry with data to refer to marketing strategies targeting the work stress group. In addition, it suggested ways for companies to relieve employee stress.
