AB - To investigate the nutritional status of the elderly in Hangzhou and its influencing factors, and provide more targeted suggestions for preventing malnutrition, so as to improve the quality of life and health of the elderly in Hangzhou, China. Nutritional status and self-management ability were evaluated among 315 elderly residents of five nursing homes in Hangzhou selected through the entire sampling. The Mini Nutritional Assessment Scale (MNAS) and the Daily Living Capacity Scale (DLCS) were used as evaluation tools. Binary logistic regression analysis was conducted to identify the main factors affecting the nutritional status of participants. Of the 315 elderly residents evaluated, 186 (59%) were classified as having good nutritional status, while 129 (41%) were classified as having insufficient nutritional status. The regression analysis showed that the main factors affecting the nutritional status of the elderly in nursing institutions included self-evaluated health (OR=0.642,95% CI:0.415-0.993), chronic pain (OR=0.481,95% CI:0.242-0.955), BMI (OR=0.151,95% CI:0.094-0.243) and Self-care ability (OR=3.105, 95% CI:1.902-5.068).To solve the problem of malnutrition in nursing homes, staff should comprehensively evaluate the nutritional status of residents and provide timely management and health guidance. Implementing strategies to prevent and manage malnutrition is essential to promoting the well-being and quality of life of elderly residents.
