ABSTRACT

This study is to empirically analyze the effects of job satisfaction and turnover intention on the quality of life of foreign workers residing in the Gyeonggi region, and to suggest ways to improve the quality of life of foreign workers through this analysis. The results of the study showed that, first, job satisfaction had a significant positive effect on the quality of life of foreign workers. Second, job satisfaction has a negative effect on turnover intention, which in turn leads to the result that turnover intention has a negative effect on quality of life. Third, it was empirically confirmed that turnover intention acts as a path that partially mediates the relationship between job satisfaction and quality of life. In conclusion, this study suggests measures to improve the quality of life of foreign workers. That is, improving working conditions, securing employment stability, improving the communication environment, supporting cultural adaptation, and expanding access to community-based welfare were suggested. Through this, it can contribute to improving the quality of life by increasing job satisfaction and reducing turnover intention of foreign workers. Therefore, this study is meaningful in that it understands the quality of life of foreign workers in a multidimensional way and approaches it empirically. As a limitation, it could only target foreign workers in certain industries, and it was a regionally biased study. As a suggestion, improving job satisfaction is a prerequisite for improving the quality of life, and field-based practice is urgent for this.
