ABSTRACT

This study proposes a framework to modernize Myeongri by integrating interpretive systems from three classical texts—Japingjinjeon, Jeokcheonsucheonmi, and Gungtongbogam—into three analytical dimensions: Structure (格局), Balance (抑扶), and Seasonal Adjustment (調候). To validate this multidimensional model, ten natal charts from Jeokcheonsucheonmi were analyzed, with scores assigned for each dimension. The findings indicate that a chart's auspiciousness isn't determined by a single factor but by the organic interplay of structural integrity, the dynamic balance of the Five Elements, and seasonal harmonization. Crucially, the study empirically shows that charts with harmony across all three dimensions are more likely to be auspicious (吉命), while significant deficiencies in any dimension often lead to inauspicious outcomes (凶命). This research suggests Myeongri can evolve beyond fatalistic prediction into a quantitative tool for analyzing the complex patterns of human life.
