ABSTRACT

This study was conducted to explore practical strategies for enhancing life satisfaction among older adults through digital literacy. Specifically, it aimed to examine the moderated mediation effect of social capital in the relationship between digital facilitator experience and life satisfaction, mediated by usage self-efficacy. Data were drawn from the 2023 Digital Information Gap Survey conducted by the National Information Society Agency of Korea, focusing on 1,239 individuals aged 65 and older. Analyses were performed using SPSS Win. (25.0) and PROCESS macro (4.2), including frequency analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and moderated mediation analysis. The results revealed two key findings: First, digital facilitator experience was positively associated with life satisfaction among older adults. Second, the mediating effect of usage self-efficacy in the relationship between digital facilitator experience and life satisfaction was moderated by social capital. These findings suggest that social capital can serve as a valuable framework for enhancing life satisfaction through digital literacy among older adults.
