ABSTRACT

This study aims to examine the effects of the MSCI career counseling program on middle school students’ awareness of career influence factors and their career development competencies. To achieve this, the program was modified and adapted to suit the developmental level of middle school students and implemented with first-year students at a middle school located in Metropolitan City G. The experimental group, consisting of 24 students, participated in the MSCI career counseling program once a week for 45 minutes over a total of nine sessions. The control group, consisting of 25 students, engaged in general career exploration activities. A paired sample t-test was conducted to analyze changes in the experimental group’s awareness of career influence factors. An analysis of covariance was conducted to verify the effects of the MSCI career counseling program on career development competencies. The results were as follows: First, the MSCI career counseling program had a significant positive impact on the experimental group's awareness of career influence factors. Second, the MSCI career counseling program had a significant positive impact on the experimental group's overall career development competency and six sub-factors. These findings suggest that the MSCI career counseling program is a useful and applicable intervention for middle school students.
