ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to empirically analyze the impact of feedback structures (narrative and itemized) on user experience within a generative AI-based multimodal environment. Using a within-subject experimental design and in-depth interviews with 15 adults in their 20s and 30s, the study found no significant quantitative differences in task accuracy or cognitive load between structures. However, qualitative results revealed a cross-preference phenomenon: users preferred the itemized format for visual information due to efficient scanning, and narrative feedback for auditory information due to more natural contextual understanding. System trust was influenced more by source attribution than by feedback format, leading to the proposal of a complementary feedback strategy that combines bullet-point visual feedback with narrative auditory delivery for optimizing next-generation AI user experiences.
