ABSTRACT

This study analyzes pet funeral services in Korea and China from a user experience perspective to examine cultural, emotional, and ritual differences in UX structures. Funeral ritual theory, emotional UX, spatial UX, and service journey theory were employed as analytical frameworks. The analysis focuses on space composition, ritual procedures, emotional design, and service operation practices. The findings indicate that Korean services emphasize emotional stability and restraint through minimalist spatial design and standardized procedures. In contrast, Chinese services highlight ritual symbolism and emotional expression by constructing narrative UX through multi-stage rituals and decorative spaces. These differences reflect culturally embedded values and mourning practices. This study suggests culturally appropriate UX design directions for future pet funeral service planning and operation.
