AB - The purpose of this study was to develop a communication competency enhancement program for early childhood teachers and to verify its effectiveness in response to the generational shift toward MZ-generation parents and changes in the non-face-to-face communication environment. The participants were 64 early childhood teachers at daycare centers, including 32 in the experimental group and 32 in the comparison group. The study was conducted from August to September 2022 using a pretest-posttest control group design. The program consisted of 10 online sessions, each lasting 90 minutes, focusing on self-concept, listening, clarity of expression, emotion regulation, and self-disclosure. Quantitative data were analyzed using t-tests, analysis of covariance (ANCOVA), and mixed-design ANOVA, while qualitative data were analyzed through triangulation based on focus group interviews and reflective responses. The results showed that the communication competency of the experimental group improved significantly in both the overall score and all five subfactors, and the effectiveness of the program was also confirmed through ANCOVA and mixed-design ANOVA. Qualitative analysis yielded changes in communication competency and experiences of applying communication skills in practice. These findings suggest the need for follow-up studies on the sustainability of program effects and the development of an integrated program.
