AB - This study examines the impact of the U.S.-Iran War on Korea’s welfare state from the perspectives of national security and economic security. Based on Titmuss’s Industrial Achievement–Performance Model, it explores the future direction of Korea’s welfare state. The findings are as follows. First, the U.S.–Iran War demonstrated that national security and economic security are closely linked to industrial competitiveness and the sustainability of the welfare state. Second, the Industrial Achievement–Performance Model explains the complementary relationship between industrial development and social welfare. Third, Korea needs to strengthen the foundation of its welfare state by enhancing energy security, strengthening supply chain resilience, and fostering strategic industries. Fourth, a sustainable Korean welfare state requires an integrated policy framework linking national security, economic security, industrial policy, and social welfare policy. In conclusion, this study reinterprets Titmuss’s Industrial Achievement-Performance Model from a contemporary perspective and suggests a policy direction for the Korean welfare state. Future research should provide additional empirical evidence and comparative analyses to further develop this integrated policy framework.
