ABSTRACT

With the growth of tourism industry in Vietnam, hotel industry continues to grow, and competition among hotel companies is getting fiercer. In this situation, the management of the employees who directly deal with customers is very important for the continuous growth of hotel companies. Therefore the purpose of this study is to investigate whether employees' grateful disposition in Vietnamese hotel affects the prosocial behavior of employees by constructing Rapport which has enjoyable interaction and personal connection. To measure this, 283 employees of hotel employees in Vietnam were collected. As a result, it was found that the grateful disposition of the hotel employees positively affects both the enjoyable interaction and the personal connection, which are the sub - concept of Rapport. In addition, the enjoyable interaction and the personal connection which is a sub-concept of Rapport, have a positive effect on the employee’s prosocial behavior. This study suggests implications for the development of training programs for Vietnamese hotels, where employees are grateful to customers and build intimate and personal relationships with their customers.
