ABSTRACT

This study was conducted to identify the relationship between communication ability and academic stress and adjustment to university life among nursing students in the lower grades, and to identify the factors influencing college life adjustment. The study was conducted on 238 nursing students from one university in the W city area, and data collection was conducted from November 20 to November 30, 2024. Data analysis was performed using SPSS 22.0 for descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA and Scheffe test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression. The subjects' communication ability was 3.50 points, academic stress was 2.26 points, and college life adjustment was 3.40 points. There was a positive correlation between communication ability and adjustment to college life, and a negative correlation between academic stress and adjustment to college life. The factors influencing college life ability were major satisfaction, number of friends, communication ability, and academic stress, with explanatory ability being 63.7%. It is required to develop and apply various non-academic programs to improve the adaptability of junior nursing students to university life.
