AB - Purpose: This study aimed to examine the effects of depression on suicidal ideation, suicide plans, and suicide attempts among adolescents with drug use experience. Methods: A secondary analysis was conducted using data from the 21st Korea Youth Risk Behavior Survey (2025). The participants were 705 middle and high school students who reported having drug use experience. Rao-Scott χ² tests and complex sample logistic regression analyses were performed. Results: Among the participants, 58.7% reported experiencing depression. The prevalence of suicidal ideation, suicide plans, and suicide attempts was 44.0%, 31.1%, and 23.0%, respectively. After adjusting for demographic characteristics, adolescents with depression were significantly more likely to report suicidal ideation (AOR=8.68), suicide plans (AOR=5.06), and suicide attempts (AOR=3.64) than those without depression. Conclusion: Depression was identified as a significant predictor of suicidal ideation, suicide plans, and suicide attempts among adolescents with drug use experience. Early screening for depression and targeted mental health interventions should be strengthened for this high-risk population. In addition, suicide prevention strategies that consider environmental and socioeconomic vulnerabilities are needed.
