ABSTRACT

This study comparatively analyzed research trends and topics in 83 Korean and international academic articles related to vibe coding. To this end, TF-IDF-based keyword time-series analysis and LDA-based topic modeling were conducted using the English abstracts of the articles collected from the Web of Science and the Korea Citation Index. The results showed that international research on vibe coding expanded from an initial focus on applications in specific domains and the feasibility of vibe coding to a broader focus on natural language-based software development approaches, code generation and development automation, and issues of responsibility and governance. International research topics included software development in medical and clinical contexts, AI-assisted educational tool development, and responsible software development. In contrast, Korean research focused on practical applications in educational and learning contexts, including digital tool development, learner experiences, and teachers’ design and development activities. Korean research topics included the development of learning tools for specific educational contexts, such as music, career, language, and elementary education, as well as digital and data-driven research and AI-scaffolded learning. Based on these results, vibe coding research was discussed as an extension of programming abstraction.
