AB - This study is to clarify the Christian counseling for intimate partner violence(IPV) as a psychological trauma centering around psychology of assailant and victim. This study dealt with the realities and an evil effect of IPV. (The cause of dating violence, the actual condition and the abuse of dating violence, the relationship between family violence and a cause of dating violence) The researcher also mentioned the psychological understanding of IPV such as psychology of offender and victim. The researcher discussed biblical understanding of IPV pevention and IPV in Christian counseling, and conclusion(summary, discussion, & suggestion). The conclusion of this study is that IPV is divided into dating violence and family violence (marital violence and child violence). In IPV, it is founded that dating violence eventually leads to family violence. IPV is a psychological trauma that affects the victim seriously. When such violence occurs for the first time, victims of violence should not have violence acceptance, but should form a support group, and report it to them. In other words, the support group means being supported by the power of family, relatives, friends and law enforcement a authorities like a police.
In Christian counseling, IPV must be clearly perceived as a transgression. People should understand that they are created in the image of God. Especially intimate relationship (loved one, couple) is a relationship that must be made with love. Date violence is the opposite action of love. Christians should regard loved one as a prospective mate(bride and bridegroom) in their date. A spouse is a helping person, and as a gift of God, one has to believe and respect for biblical, happy relationship.
