ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to develop standards for evaluating lesson plans in special education. A standards for lesson plan evaluation was developed based on the features on effective teaching practices from exemplary special education teachers and a series of evaluation features designed for general education lessons. The standards were validated through a delphi method with 20 researchers, school administrators, or special education teachers who were recognized as special education instruction experts. These experts were asked to examine the standards in terms of 5 aspects : the clarity of its description, its appropriateness for meeting the needs of special education students, its appropriateness as evaluation components, its evaluation level discrimination, and its applicability to school settings. After the validation, 9 evaluation areas and 19 evaluation items were finalized as the standards for evaluating special education lesson plans.
