ABSTRACT

Due to the repeated occurrence of child abuse in the child-care center, quality of child-care emerges as a great social concern. Also, it raises the question of the national accreditation of child-care center. In this context, this study introduced the evaluation system of child-care center in Finland which has an social education tradition in contrast to school readiness tradition of U.S and Australia etc. First, Finland’s high quality child-care system were summarized in terms of the policy fo adminstration and finance, training of the staff, and the type of child-care. Resepctively, the history and background of child-care evaluation were reviewed and the then the evaluation process of child-care quality were described according to the three levels: institution, municipality and government. Implication for the national accredition of child-care center in Korea were discussed.
