ABSTRACT

The aim of this study is to explore the rights of children in the composition and operation of early childhood education and care curriculum in Korea and Finland. For the study, literature data were collected focusing on Korea’s 2019 revised Nuri-curriculum, the 4th daycare center standard care curriculum(2020), Finland’s NCCECEC(2022), and NCCPE(2014), and the data analysis used the analysis framework of previous studies comparing educational systems and curriculums between countries. As a result of the study, first, in the composition of the ECEC curriculum in Korea and Finland, rights such as the right to education and respect diversity were found in common. Second, it was suggested that the operation of the ECEC curriculum in Korea and Finland should support the guarantee of Childrens’ right to play and learning through play-based education. This study is meaningful in that it suggested that a clear statement on the rights of the ECEC curriculum in Korea should be supplemented through the search for children’s rights in the ECEC curriculum in Korea and Finland, and that a change in perspective on the role of the curriculum as a venue for respecting infant rights is necessary.
