AB - The purpose of this study is to investigate the perception of the school libraries from the teachers who work for the school libraries in rural area. Data were collected by survey and interview. The results shows that the role of school libraries is the place of reading instruction and leisure. Students can expand their experience for social life through using information media. Also, it is emphasized that the school libraries in the rural area should have the role of cultural place with local residents. Finally, the study provides several programs; flexible library scheduling, academic achievement programs, liberal art programs, and cultural place programs.
