AB - Academic libraries need to increase library user and use rates to strengthen the competitiveness. It can be a way that academic libraries introduce and implement outreach service. The purpose of this study is to present the outreach service plan that is suitable for being implemented at academic libraries in Korea. This paper explored the significance of library outreach, the characteristic of academic library's outreach activities and related studies. After this study examined the cases of outreach service at foreign and Korean academic libraries, outreach service programs for user groups such as multicultural students, transfer students, graduate students, boarding students, professors, and lecturers and teaching assistants, and six steps of outreach activities were proposed.
