ABSTRACT

This study explored the fact that libraries can be used as evacuation facilities, suggesting that existing libraries built not only strengthen their role and function as evacuation facilities but also need to be constructed or remodeled to meet the criteria for designation and operation of evacuation facilities. The use of closed schools was proposed to pursue economic efficiency and regional effects in building or remodeling, and the status of the evacuation facilities and closed school in Chungju was evaluated to check the effectiveness of these proposals, and closed school was assessed based on the capacity of the shelter. The three main points of discussion in this paper are as follows: ① Reconfirm what functions and roles the library are performing as an evacuation facility, and explore the advantages of using the library as an evacuation facility is used as an evacuation facility. ② Review and discuss the synergy by the role of the library and the closed schools. ③ Examine and discuss the synergy between these roles of the library and the closed school.
