ABSTRACT

Following the stringent regulatory updates after the Fukushima accident, Multiple Failure Accident (MFA) analyses are being rigorously conducted for Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs). These analyses evaluate safety risks by integrating natural disasters with internal system malfunctions and human factors. In particular, the Internet of Things (IoT) is associated with human factors. Over the proposed 60-year operational lifespan, the final value was observed to be 2.412 times higher than the initial value (calculated as 2.05 / 0.85). To extend these MFA applications from Light Water Reactors (LWRs) to Gas-Cooled and Liquid Metal Reactors, the development of new scenarios is essential. Furthermore, it is critical to establish robust safety analysis programs and strategic improvement frameworks for MFA-related systems.
