ABSTRACT

As Massive Internet of Things (IoT) services, such as smart factories and smart cities, continue to expand, the number of devices simultaneously accessing networks is increasing. In such environments, repeated or synchronized device access behaviors may lead to signalling storms, resulting in network performance degradation and reduced service quality. This paper analyzes the operational procedures and information provided by Signalling Storm Analytics defined in 3GPP standards and examines how such information can be utilized in Massive IoT environments. To this end, smart metering, smart factory, and large-scale firmware update environments are considered representative Massive IoT scenarios to investigate the potential operational use of Signalling Storm Analytics information. By linking the analytics information defined in the standards to practical Massive IoT scenarios and presenting specific examples of its utilization, this study contributes to a better understanding of Signalling Storm Analytics information and clarifies its potential applications.
