ABSTRACT

In the system such as mobile location-based services, it is necessary to continuously identify the object that occupies the largest angular portion of a moving user’s view. Recomputing Nearest Surrounder(NS) results at every sampled location is costly. This paper proposes the Continuous Maximum Angular Exposure(CMAE) query in a two-dimensional Euclidean space. Given a moving query point , a time interval , and an object set, CMAE accumulates the length of each object’s visible angular range, and returns the object with the highest exposure score. Snapshot-MAE constructs NS(q) using angular bounds and madist-based pruning, and then aggregates object-angular-range tuples. Continuous-MAE maintains the current NS result and a Non-Provoked Polygon(NPP). Inside the NPP, it updates angular ranges and scores using CART/ART and a Range Ledger; outside the NPP, it performs PartialSweep only over invalid angular ranges. Experiments show that the proposed method reduces the processing cost compared with a Periodic MAE baseline.
