AB - The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety has announced a partial revision of the Enforcement Decree of the Food Sanitation Act. The main content is that it will allow recent regulations on companion animal entry.
In principle, this is a revision of the regulatory sandbox pilot implementation that was implemented because business owners and pet owners were unaware of the prohibition on companion animal entry into food service establishments such as restaurants and cafes and received administrative dispositions or penalties.
The awareness of companion animals is changing significantly for not only companion animals but also non-companions, and laws, policies, systems, and industries (products, services, etc.) in various fields related to companion animals are changing.
However, as is the case with everything else, the reality is that we are not able to keep up with the changes in society due to the increase in the number of pet owners, the growth of the industry, and the improvement of awareness, laws, policies, systems, and industry changes. Therefore, we are working to change laws, policies, and systems for this change, and are operating the regulatory sandbox system for this purpose. Accordingly, there are currently many applications for regulatory sandboxes for companion animals, and just as there are cases where legislation has been announced through pilot operation of regulatory sandboxes, the regulatory sandbox system should be utilized and expanded in the future for matters that cannot be legislated immediately.
