ABSTRACT

This research is part of the 50thanniversary of Korean Language and Literature journal. It covers the papers published from 1963 (Volume No. 1) to 2013 (Volume No. 85). There are 115 studies in the field of Korean Language Education found in Korean Language and Literature, which is 7.04% of the total research papers (1,633) published in the said journal. These studies can be categorized in Korean linguistics, reading, writing, listening, speaking, contemporary literature, classical literature, and language education. The studies about Korean language education should be written on a specific approach which is based on the development of the educational course or curriculum. In fifty years of Korean language education research, it is disappointing that no studies were done about Middle Korean language education. Given this situation, the students should read and analyze the references about Middle Korean. It is very important to study the grammar of Middle Korean because we could track the transition of Korean language. I am expecting that many researches about Middle Korean will come out in the future.
