ABSTRACT

Cai Deyi's <Fengshan Song>, also known as Tiantaibie Song, is a secluded lyric created in the 16th year of Renzu (1638). In <Fengshan Song>, the author adopts Confucianism to approach the real world, Daoism to address the ideal world and nature, and ultimately Buddhism to heal the soul and express a philosophy of harmonious life. In <Fengshan Song>, the author employs Confucian thought to address the real world with political ideas such as "honour the king and drive off the barbarians," "governing the country with rites," and "loyalty to the monarch and patriotism." Additionally, the author uses Daoist thought to approach the ideal world and nature, aligning with the philosophies of Laozi and Zhuangzi as guidelines for living. Furthermore, the author incorporates Buddhist thought to contemplate life, embracing the Buddhist philosophies of "life is like a dream" and "worldly disillusionment," finding solace in adversity and embodying an optimistic view of life. In <Fengshan Song>, the author upholds Confucian thought faithfully for the survival of feudal society. Furthermore, through Daoist thought, the work's atmosphere evokes a refreshing and transcendent feeling, leading to a romantic, spiritual, and beautiful world. Moreover, through Buddhist thought, the author pursues the beauty of transcendence and the philosophical teachings of Buddhism. When creating <Fengshan Song>, Cai Deyi emphasized literary beauty while also focusing on the social value and life philosophy of poetry, reflecting the literary beauty of lyrics. Furthermore, it can be said that the author fulfilled the responsibility of a Confucian scholar in creating literary works with political and social significance.
