ABSTRACT

The purpose of the study is to suggest a specific solution to the spine illness like flat back and scoliosis which is common to ballet dancers unlike the other genres of dance. The findings of the study were as follows; First, the ballet dancers’ illness and their pain, who have spine illness including cervical, thoracic and lumbar vertebra, are getting better with 10 times ‘S·I Program’. Second, their understanding about their bodies and their body-awareness were upgraded. This study showed that the re-education of movement could evoke change to ballet dancers by combination of structures and functions. It could be considered natural that experimentees got better spine condition, during ‘S·I Program’ was progressed. However, the most important point that should be recognized was that the experimentees made efforts to widen their changed understanding their bodies from just experiments to daily life. This awakening opened the possibility of changing correcting posture.
