ABSTRACT

This article is a comparative analysis of the Jarasum Jazz Festival and the Sziget Jazz Festival from the perspective of glocalization. The result of the analysis can be summarized as follows. Both festivals have developed from a small ‘island’ in the regions to a globally representative festivals, so that they can enjoy freedom through the music genres of ‘rock’ and ‘jazz’, and thrive owing to the high level of the participants and their clear identities. The festivals fosters local cultural local based on culture and improves the quality of life of the local community, creating a virtuous cycle structure of local public relations. It is necessary to achieve glocalization of local culture through local festivals. In order for Korean local festivals to become a popular glocalization spots for people around the world, it is necessary to continuously develop diverse and unique contents and create world-class values by local people rather than government-led festivals.
