ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to analyze the contents of elementary P.E. textbooks in terms of the subject and core competency areas of global citizenship education to see if the areas of expression in elementary P.E. textbooks under the 2015 revised education curriculum reflect the perspective of global citizenship education. In order to achieve the research objectives, the subject areas of global citizenship education were classified into human rights, environment, multiculturalism, and community. The analysis results are as follows. First, the subject of human rights reflects the contents of discrimination and human dignity. Second, the environmental theme reflects the contents of natural environment, resources and sustainable development. Third, the multicultural theme reflects the contents of cultural diversity, pride in one’s culture, and interest in other cultures. Fourth, the community theme reflects the contents of harmony, order, and rules.
