ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to prevent acute stress and post-traumatic stress that may occur during disasters by examining the elements of crisis intervention in the psychosomatic approach from the literature and examining their importance through the understanding of disasters. To this end, the survival response to the threatening situation of disaster was discussed from a neurophysiological point of view. Investigating the elements of psychosomatic crisis intervention, this study explained the elements of psychosomatic crisis intervention for disasters from the bottom-up and top-down integrated approaches, identifying the following elements; psycho-education, social support and connection, debriefing, and body-centered elements. Body-centered elements consisted of breathing practice, movement, and body-based positive resource construction.
