ABSTRACT

This study examines the aspects of discourse on and the ecosystem of dance in a diversified society. By analyzing discourses on dance research and dance criticism, I discuss the contents, methods, and media of discourse on dance that reflects the characteristic features of diversified society: diverse identities, digitalization-globalization, breaking away from existing customs, and convergence/interdisciplinary. This phenomenon of diversification affects the dance ecosystem and creates a discourse about dancers trying to survive in a precarious life. This study is expected to illuminate that along with the dance world phenomenon, the lives of people living within in a diversified society experience both de-centering and centralization at the same time.
