AB - The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between positive perceptions of popping dance and interest among practical dance majors and to investigate the indirect effect of perceived value in this relationship. Participants were 237 undergraduate and graduate students majoring in practical dance in the Seoul metropolitan area. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and mediation analysis. The results showed that positive perceptions were positively associated with perceived value, and perceived value was positively associated with interest. A statistically significant indirect effect of positive perceptions on interest through perceived value was identified. Participants stongly recognized the value of applying popping movement principles to choreographic creation, whereas actual application experience and intention to use popping as a choreographic reference were relatively lower. Therefore, these findings should be interpreted as evidence of perceived applicability rather than actually improvements in choreographic ability or performance.
