ABSTRACT

This study focuses on China's international financial order, which has received new attention since the 2008 global financial crisis. The following year, in 2009, the new China-centered world order was imaged in a very condensed and metaphorical way through the movie “The Silver of Empire.” The images revealed here are full of symbols, such as the silver color symbolizing the silver standard, the closed square structure of the Siheyuan symbolizing the Qing Empire, and the woman representing the seductively approaching West. In 2012, Xi Jinping formalized the Chinese time value that these images would fill nationally through the ‘Chinese Dream’. The movie “The Silver of Empire” is a collection of dreamlike works that were created before China even dreamed of it. There, deep-rooted ‘Cino centrism’ is revealed, with the Chinese people becoming the center of the world and creating a new civilization.
