ABSTRACT

This study is designed to demonstrate the strengths and distinctiveness of trans-identity theory in analyzing various high-context structures and contents. Therefore, in this study, I will examine the usefulness of trans-identity theory as an analysis tool for contemporary high-context narrative structures, using the drama <Mr.Queen> and its original work, the Chinese web drama <Go Princess Go>, as research subjects. The ‘body’, a shell empty of its own identity, corresponds to a ‘game character’. ‘Possessed subjects’ who enter a fictional hybrid space that is completely different from their own reality correspond to ‘gamers’. And the ‘body possessed by the soul of the possessed subject’ corresponds to the ‘gamer + character fusion’ who is the subject of the game. Therefore, these two dramas, <Mr.Queen> and <Go Princess Go>, can be said to be remediated narratives between media with a high-context structure that reflects game storytelling quite well.
