ABSTRACT

This study aimed to investigate the oriented consciousness shown in Chinese poetry by Yoon, Hyo-Gwan(1745~1823), a literary person in Gangjin, Jeonnam, and its meaning. A total of his 636 Chinese poems with 463 themes were handed down in vol. 1 of 『Jookrokyooko』. This study gave a focus on 636 Chinese poems created to show a few purposes and intentions. It was expected that the oriented consciousness shown in Chinese poetry by a literary person in Honam area who had lived from the middle 18th century to the early 19th century would be found out. Chapter 2 classified the poet’s life and Chinese poetry. His life was roughtly divided into three parts: First, birth and studying period(age of 1~32); second, government service period( age of 33 through 69); third, retirement and returning home period(age of 70 through 79). 636 Chinese poems were classified according to types and it was discovered that there were a great number of Chilunjeolgu and Chilunyulsi poems. Chapter 3 investigated the oriented consciousness shown in Chinese poetry by Yoon, Hyo-Gwan. Before mentioning the oriented consciousness, this study discovered that he created poems to show a few purposes and intentions; they were admonition poems, rural poems, critical poems and landscape poems. Each of the four types of poems has oriented consciousness as follows: The poems admonished descendants, reported real condition of rural life, showed the love of the people and local characteristics of Honam area. As his Chinese poems were usually created based on experiences, reality was inherent in them, The reality has meaning in that it was connected to the poems created by We Baek-Gyu and Jeong Yak-Yong, literary persons of the late Joseon Period. Meanwhile, Yoon Hyo-Gwan’s 「Honam Poetry」 is a kind of toponym Chinese poetry and it was assumed that as it succeeded Go Yong-Jeup’s 「Namjeongbu」 and 「Honamga」, words created after age, its meaning is great.
