ABSTRACT

Joshua 24 is an important text in forming the composition of the six scriptures through traditional history. This study examines how the complex data of Hexateuch could be arranged through Joshua 24, and traces their complex history of transmission and editing. Accordingly, it is confirmed that at least the traditional texts of Hexateuch composed and accepted by Joshua 24 are the result of the integrated work of the deuteronomic and priestly groups. Joshua 24 consists of content that continues from at least Genesis 12 to Joshua 6, and the patriarchal tradition, the Exodus tradition, the wilderness tradition, and the land acquisition tradition are introduced in order as one literary body. The intention of Hexateuch on Joshua 24, composed in this way, could at least be constructed through the Shechem tradition, and through this tradition, it can be seen that the theology of Hexateuch is filled with the desire for the return of the Diaspora to their homeland. In this respect, it can be confirmed that the Book of the Law of God as the Book of the Law of Joshua goes beyond the meaning of the Book of the Law of Moses and the Book of the Law of God in the Chronicles. Overall, it is confirmed that the compiler of Joshua 24 had a premonition that a new era is approaching beyond the middle Persian period and that he aspired to a new community of Israel. They accepted the revised post-dtr view of history and the post-p view of history, and we observed that these traces are confirmed in the text of Hexateuch. It is clear that the possibility of continuing to examine how this text is influencing the solution of Persian social problems is always open.
