AB - This study explores the interpretive relationship between the biblical text of Genesis 32 and its visual representation in works of art. By employing the methodologies of iconographic analysis from Art and exegetical approach from Biblical theology, the research attempts an “Aesthetic and Biblical approach”(=Aesthetic Biblical interpretation) to both the Bible and its work of Art. Focusing on Genesis 32:22–32 as the final form of the text, the study investigates the literary and rhetorical dimensions of its inherent hermeneutical ambiguity. It then analyzes the aesthetic elements—such as light, face, eyes, and tears—in Rembrandt’s artistic reimagining of the passage. Through this process, the study highlights the importance for biblical scholars and commentators not only to pursue historical accuracy and objective analysis, but also to attend to the emotional and aesthetic dimensions that reflect both the heart of God and the heart of humanity. This research thus reaffirms the value of interpreting Bible through a lens that considers artistic sensibility and emotional depth. Furthermore, it holds broader significance by demonstrating the potential of such interdisciplinary inquiry to enrich fields such as biblical theology, Christian music, visual arts, literature, film, and sculpture etc.
